Crime
Crime and dealing with the people
who commit it can be a complex challenge for communities to tackle, whether
this is low level and pervasive behaviours or serious and highly destructive
behaviours; both have significant impact on communities. Where poorly
managed by the agencies concerned, the quality of life for everyone in
the neighbourhood, regardless of their choice of housing type, can suffer
increasing crime and fear of crime.
To effectively
manage crime reduction it is necessary to work with the triad of dimensions:
Victims &
Offenders as shown below.

Community agencies need to know how to successfully engage with criminal
justice during case management and resettlement of offenders, how to develop
preventative strategies which hold victims needs at the centre and how
to make places safer. The keys to effective working in crime reduction
are information exchange and multi-agency partnership working.
